JERSEY OF THE MONTH..."Don't Feed the Birds"

Each designer in the Voler Art Department is opted to design a jersey of the month, anything they really feel inspired to do. I jumped in and decided to do somewhat of a landscape of Pismo Beach, one of my favorite places going as a kid. It's kind of a cartoonish perspective with the funky colored houses, and the characters you might find roaming around the central coast... so just wanted to share, and excited to see it get printed and really see what it looks like.

Voler: Family Picnic T-Shirt Designs

Started working for Voler Cycling Apparel about 3 months ago in the art department, and had an opportunity to create some t-shirt designs for our upcoming Company Family Picnic. The theme was OLD FASHION...mmm. The design with the tall bicycle rider (the last one) won, and will be printed. Never really designed much t-shirt or apparel, but enjoy the opportunities I get to learn in this industry of production in apparel print. Soon I will be designing a jersey of the month we will sell at our online retail store... so soon to come!

NEW! Coming Soon to Central Coast...

amity & truce
Vintage Store Online

So...I have it in my heart and on my head to start a vintage online store that is a collection from home decor, to patchwork clothing, to accessories... basically a place where I can release creativity and sell not just my designs but other's in this local area. Kind of like an etsy with a more affordable anthropologie style products , however, it would be more specific to just California and stored in my local garage for the meantime.

Check out the example products and give me feedback. The store hasn't started, and sample inventory is in process.

New French Salon coming to San Luis Obispo...

So I'm stoked because the best part of working for yourself is not only the freedom to create whenever you want and be wherever you want, but networking with whoever you want. I got a call this last week from a women that I was recommended to who is opening up a new salon downtown. She was in need of a logo and normally I don't do a lot of logo design because it's much more technical and sometimes more structured than I prefer, but in her knowing exactly what she wanted, and it was something within with my style, I agreed.

We are still in the works, because the first logo was too much design and we are now simplifying, but still wanted to showcase the look and feel we are going for and give a sneak preview. She opens in February and I will post pics and some fun projects we will be working on together!

Here was the first rough drafts...

why are all the good things too expensive...?

I am looking at designing my room officially! I say officially, because in it taking 2 months to adjust to the fact I have moved, and attempted to paint (still need to finish the ceiling), and really the only other things I have attempted is to hang some curtains and a few random items. I realize my room needs more final touches...

so i go browsing online to see what i can find.

p.s. i love pottery barn. i love anthropologie. and a new secret love for the apartment section of urban outfitters. here's what i'm looking for, and what my hopes of my new room/sanctuary will look & feel like. i'm excited to start a new... means so much more than just decor, but a place i can dwell, work, retreat, rest, and be creative with my creator...

O Christmas tree, o christmas tree...

I love birds, just about as much as I love them in trees. If you've seen my website, you would know that! One of my favorite verses is in the psalms: "Oh, that I had the wings of a dove! I would fly away and be at rest"... I just feel birds represent "freedom + peace", and trees represent "home + place to rest"... so appropriately for this upcoming season of peace, i created a few vector images to share...I'll probably turn these into christmas cards, so feel free to use them if you'd like. enjoy!

CHOW! New Restaurant in town...

So... for almost 2 years now, I've been working for Novo Restaurant (downtown SLO off Higuera street...www.novorestaurant.com) and Robin's Restaurant (downtown Cambria off Burton Drive...www.robinsrestaurant.com), doing graphic design. Both restaurants have been incredibly successful for years, only growing in their creativity and popularity, and now they have started another restaurant downtown San Luis Obispo on Monterey Street next to the Freemont Theater, called CHOW, which has a real Asian flair, focusing more on Tapas style food and Asian fusion menus.

My roommate and I were fortunate to go to their complimentary special opening last week and enjoy the food and experience. Just wanted to show off the restaurant and it's style.

SEEDS OF HOPE: Cycle of Hope Event

I was thrilled to help me now new roomie with this event for Seeds of Hope - a non-profit organization that focuses on clean water in Zambia, Africa. Already being connected with Seeds of Hope, she asked me to do some poster, card and t-shirt designs for the event. It was an amazing success and truly enjoyed working a stop-station at a local winery the day of!

NEW WEBSITE...

Loved this project. My good friend and past co-worker on the Central Coast, Oriana Maki, has an incredible gift and passion for floral design and is taking off, and she asked me to design her website. It's been a joy and fun putting in my little thoughts and creative perks, to create what you see below. Please feel free to give input and thoughts... and if you need someone for floral design, I highly recommend her! Take a look... the website will be up SOON!!!

Abilgail Borg Wallpaper Patterns

I love this girls designs. She does a lot of sketch, yet very clean looking floral patterns. Stumbled across her while designing Orianna's website, and just love the large print style with the muted bold colors. Check it out! click on image to check out website, or go to my links...
